Public Enemies on set

March 10, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The people of Wisconsin heard the news about "Public Enemies" being filmed in Wisconsin. Soon the people of Columbus will get to see it happen first hand. Crews are already busy transforming parts of the downtown into a scene straight out of the 1930's. The Hollywood film is the story of John Dillinger. Dozens of construction workers are now in town, repainting buildings, tearing down signs and replacing awnings and windows.

Nick Sharrow, co-owner Sharrow Drugs, says half of his store will be used as a hat store. The pharmacy owner doesn't mind all the commotion saying, "It puts Columbus on the map a little bit." The film stars Johnnie Depp and Christine Bale. "The girls in town are waiting for Johnny to come." He says as he chuckles.

The actors are expected Monday, March 17, to film a bank robbery scene.
