"Enemies" heads North

April 21, 2008 By WRN Contributor

Film makers are not specifying where or when, but production of  Public Enemies will be coming to northern Wisconsin. The movie is directed by Michael Mann, and stars Johnny Depp, playing gangster John Dillenger. Dave Fulton is the film's unit publicist. “We do have a big action sequence that will be shooting up in the northern part of the state for several days,” he says. adding that the sequence is “based on some historical fact.” Fulton says they are trying to be as historically accurate as possible.

The film crew has been shooting with key cast members at locations throughout the state, and Fulton says their experience in Wisconsin has been exceptional. “Everybody's been incredibly cooperative,” he says, even though “it's like a small army coming to attack your city. City officials and everybody we've dealt with has been extremely cooperative, and it's really helped our production run that much smoother.” Fulton says he understands people are very excited about a film coming to their community, but asked people to also remember film makers are in an area to work.  Public Enemies will be shooting in Wisconsin for another two to three weeks.
