Latest senior victims may be getting new TV

April 29, 2008 By WRN Contributor

At a downtown Milwaukee senior living center Sunday night, two men posing as carpet cleaners asked a resident to leave the common area. The man obliged only after finishing his television show. When the resident returned a half hour later, the 52 inch TV was gone and so were the men. Senior Property Manager Deb Karaszewski of Jefferson Court apartments says the tenants are "devastated" with the nice amenity now gone. She says many residents can't afford cable and this television provided more than 100 channels.

Someone from the Home Miracle Network has since contacted her about possibly donating a new TV. "It may actually happen today (Tuesday)," said Karaszewski.

The similar theft from a veterans' center earlier this month resulted in offers of donations and a new TV. Police believe the latest incident is related only as a copycat of the first. Both incidents were caught on video surveillance and in both cases Milwaukee police are still looking for the thieves.
