Doyle rallies for Obama

June 14, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Governor is calling on Democrats to help Barack Obama win the presidency.

Governor Jim Doyle says the state has a great honor and responsibility this fall.  He says Democrats must do everything they can to help Obama win what will likely be a key battleground state this fall.

Doyle called on Democrats to move beyond the fierce primary between Obama and Hillary Clinton.  He said both candidates put on strong campaigns, but the voters have spoken and selected Obama to bring about the change the nation "so badly needs."

Recent polls show Obama ahead of presumptive Republican nominee John McCain in Wisconsin.  However, Doyle says Democrats can't take anything for granted in what will be a very tough election.  He told delegates that Democrats will have to do everything they can to win in November.

Doyle spoke to delegates Friday night at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin's convention in Stevens Point.
