Potheads aplenty converging on the Capitol

September 26, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The 38th annual Great Midwest Marijuana Festival will come to downtown Madison the weekend of October 3rd.

Organizer Ben Masel says there will be a parade, rally, and lots of music from groups that include "Not on Mars" and the "Baghdad Scuba Review."

Will there be any pot smoking during the event? Masel says it's about changing the law, not about breaking it. However, past festivals have shown it isn't difficult to detect the odor of cannabis wafting through the air.

Masel and other organizers are hoping to drum up support for a medical marijuana law in Wisconsin.
