Brewers to name Macha new manager today

October 30, 2008 By WRN Contributor

The Milwaukee Brewers  have called a 2pm press conference to name Ken Macha their new field manager.  Macha is the former Oakland A's manager and was chosen ahead of former Arizona manager Bob Brenly and former New York Mets manager Will Randolph.

Macha was on the Brewers radar back in 2003.  GM Doug Melvin wanted Macha at that time, but Macha instead was promoted from bench coach to manager in Oakland.  Melvin then selected Ned Yost as the teams manager at that time.
