Alice makes a pitch: buy Wisconsin for holidays

November 29, 2008 By WRN Contributor

something_special.jpg What would the holidays be without beer, wine and cheese? Since all three are produced in abundance in Wisconsin, Alice in Dairlyland Ashley Huibregtse says it's a great way to support Wisconsin businesses — and local economies around the state.

Huibregtse, whose role as Alice is to promote the state's agriculture industry and its myriad products, says one way to make sure you're buying a Wisconsin product is to look for the yellow and red “ Something special from Wisconsin ” sticker. That guarantees that at least half the product is made, processed or grown in the Badger state.

Since the holidays mean food, Huibregtse suggests checking out some of Wisconsin's hundreds of varieties of cheeses paired with Wisconsin produced beer and wines.
