State job site listings grow

January 2, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Even though unemployment is rising in the state, there are still jobs available.

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman says a state website launched earlier this year lists a wide variety of open positions in Wisconsin right now. The site allows people to list a resume and search for open positions.

In the past month, Gassman says they've added nearly 6,900 listings. Even though hiring is down across the state, she says there's still a lot of demand for skilled workers in areas such as manufacturing and health care.

Gassman says the site helps job seekers find work, and also allows employers to look at resumes.

DWD is encouraging more employers to list any open jobs on the site.
