February 4, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Racine has a newly appointed mayor for the next 4-months, and then the people choose a new mayor in early May.

Alderman Tom Friedel gets picked to replace Acting Mayor David Maack, the council President, who took over when Gary Becker resigned because of Internet child chat & pornography allegations. The Racine Council picked May 7th to elect a new mayor, with .the primary to coincide with the April general election, although Alderman Robert Mozol wanted early June for closer candidate scrutiny.

Tom Friedel will not be running for mayor in Racine, while Gary Becker, who resigned last month, faces arraignment next week.
