Prison time in hit man case

April 16, 2009 By WRN Contributor

A Rock County judge hands down a prison sentence to a Janesville man accused of trying to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife and her boyfriend, City Councilman Yuri Rashkin. Joseph Chrislaw received three years in prison and six months supervision after a pleaded guilty to charges he tried to hire a contract killer in the parking lot of a bar last September. The "killer," whom he thought was a member of the Hells Angels, was actually an undercover Janesville police officer.

During the sentencing the accused began crying, apologized and asked for forgiveness. The judge told the 46-year-old Chrislaw he needs to stop living in a fantasy world of computer games, Dungeons and Dragons and Russian mail order brides. The judge ordered mental health treatment to help Chrislaw "live in reality."

Ted Sullivan-Janesville Gazette contributed to this report.
