Stimulating new feature to job website

April 20, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Projects stemming from federal stimulus dollars will now be added to the state's website that attempts to match employers with those searching for work. Dick Jones, spokesman for the Department of Workforce Development, says Governor Doyle's executive order requires contracts and subcontractors involved in recovery projects to post on jobcenterofwisconsin.com .He adds Doyle worked closely with House Appropriations Chairman Dave Obey of Wausau and President Obama on plans in the recovery bill.

Jones says although currently there is a recession, businesses are still hiring noting nearly 13,000 job openings are posted.

It's estimated the stimulus plan will create or save 70,000 jobs in Wisconsin.
