Snow day fun for kids

December 9, 2009 By WRN Contributor

Just about every kid in Wisconsin is enjoying a snow day and that means time to get outside and play in the snow, so says Angie Flickinger with the Rock County UW-Extension. She says this is especially important nowadays as some schools are reducing the amount of time students spend outdoors.

One idea is an Olympic challenge with events like the long jump, snowball throw and snow pile hurdles. Children and adults can even exercise their creative side.

Of course, Flickinger says, traditional activities like building snowmen, sledding and having snow ball fights work well too.
