Badgers get a 7-seed in NCAA women’s tournament

March 16, 2010 By Bill Scott

For the first time since 2002, the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team has qualified for the NCAA tournament.  The 7th seeded Badgers(21-10) will take on 10th-seeded Vermont (26-6) on Sunday (11am) at Notre Dame.  The game will air on ESPN2.

Second-seeded Notre Dame (27-5) takes on 15th-seeded Cleveland State (19-13) in the other first-round game.  The winners meet in the second round on March 23 (6pm) for the right to advance to the Kansas City Regional.

The last time the Badgers were in the field was in 2002 when it lost to Arizona State 73-70 in first round play.  The Badgers all-time NCAA record in six previous appearances is 2-6.
