Accident kills former district attorney

June 29, 2010 By WRN Contributor

A long time Polk County attorney and former district attorney was killed in an accident on his property over the weekend. The Polk County Sheriff’s Department reports that 59 year-old John E. Schneider of Balsam Lake was attempting to demolish a small outbuilding that had been damaged during severe weather earlier this month, when a wall collapsed pinning Schneider underneath. Investigators believe the accident occurred some time after noon on Sunday. Deputies were dispatched to the home after Schneider, who owned a law office in Balsam Lake, failed to show up for work Monday morning.
