Brewers swept by Astros

August 2, 2010 By Bill Scott

Pinch hitter Jason Michaels clubbed a 7th inning grand slam and the Houston Astros beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 on Sunday, sweeping the Brewers in the 3-game series.  It’s the 5th straight win for Houston and the 5th straight defeat for the slumping Brewers.

Corey Hart gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead with a 2-run homer and Randy Wolf was making it stand up.  Then, Wolf was hit on the wrist by a Hunter Pence line drive and had to leave the game.  Kameron Loe then walked to batters before lefty Zach Braddock came on to surrender Michael’s second pinch hit grand slam of the season.

X-rays were negative on Wolf’s wrist, but he’ll undergo an MRI in Milwaukee today.

The Brewers continue their road trip in Chicago tonight, the first of three against the Cubs, who also have lost five straight.

Hart’s home run in the 6th ended a 28-inning scoreless streak.  It also ended a 0-for-22 drought for the Brewers with runners in scoring position.

The Brewers are now 11 1/2 games behind the first place St. Louis Cardinals and fading fast.
