Punting battle continues in Green Bay

August 9, 2010 By Bill Scott

Not much has been decided in the battle to see who will punt for the

Punter Tim Masthay

Green Bay Packers in 2010.

Both Chris Bryan and Tim Masthay performed well in the Packers annual “Family Night Scrimmage”.  Bryan averaged 57 yards and 4.7 seconds of hang time on three punts while Masthay averaged 53.3 yards and 4.46 seconds of hang time.  Bryan’s first punt was from the 25 and down wind, while Masthay had the same punt but was instead kicking against the wind.

Both had reletively even number on pooch punts inside the 20.  Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he likes what he sees.

Masthay and Bryan’s next chance under game conditions will come in this Saturday’s preseason opener against the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field.
