Settlement reached in Dells mishap

October 2, 2010 By WRN Contributor

A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit against the operators of Wisconsin Dells attraction, the scene of an accident in which a young girl was badly hurt. The 12 year old girl from Florida, Teagan Marti, was seriously injured in July when she fell from the Terminal Velocity ride at Extreme World. State regulators ruled the ride operator, 33 year-old Charles Carnell of Lake Delton, failed to follow protocol when Teagan was hurt. The girl fell 100 feet to the ground while her mother watched. Teagen returned with her family to Florida in early September after recuperating for a month at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison. Her injuries left her with the potential for some long-term paralysis. No details on the agreement with Extreme World were released and a court still has to approve it. It is possible another suit may be filed against the maker of the ride.
