Walker focuses on factories in campaign stops

October 29, 2010 By WRN Contributor

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker is hoping campaign appearances, like the one he made in Fond du Lac Thursday, will open the door to the Governor’s mansion for him. So it seems appropriate that his stop was at a company that makes doors, Combination Door. Walker told the gathering of about 75 that if they want to see things improve they need to put him in the Governor’s office.

Afterward Walker said those companies that have weathered the sour economy have patiently waited for change. Dan Schmidt’s great-great grandfather started combination door in 1912. His company depends on the economy and the housing market in particular. He believes Walker will bring the changes the state needs.

The Republican candidate for Governor said he gets questions from the media about why he’s stopping at factories and work sites instead of campaign headquarters. Walker said “jobs” is what people are talking about during his stops.
