Another trip planned for WW II Vets

November 11, 2010 By WRN Contributor

The organizers of the Vets Roll Project, who’ve taken Wisconsin’s World War II veterans to see their memorial in Washington DC, are planning a second tour of duty. Organizer Mark Finnegan says they plan to announce details Thursday.

In May, the group took 125 World War II vets and “Rosie the Riveter” factory workers out to the memorial and the Flight 93 memorial in Pennsylvania. Finnegan recalls the welcome home party at Beloit’s Central Christian Church, “Literally thousands of people were out on highways and in the parking areas of the church, and in the church.”

The group raised more than $85,000 in two months for the first trip. The group is now a 501-3C non-profit, so donations are tax-deductible.
