A man accused of using a bomb threat to rob a bank in Fitchburg was arrested in Waukesha County Friday. According to a press release from the Fitchburg Police Department, Matthew Koski is being held on preliminary charges of armed robbery and making a bomb threat. The 56 year-old Koski is accused of robbing the Park Bank at 2802 Fish Hatchery Road in Fitchburg around 5:45 p.m. Friday. Koski told bank employees there was a bomb at the bank and fled with money, according to the release.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad responded, but did not find any explosives in the bank. Around 6:30 p.m., Dane County dispatchers asked Waukesha County for help in locating Koski, whom they believed had driven east on I-94, according to at Waukesha County press release. Sheriff’s deputies, the state patrol and local police began a search.
A City of Delafield officer located the Koski’s vehicle on County Highway C north of the interstate and initiated a traffic stop. Koski did not stop and following a pursuit, he was caught after his vehicle ran over stop sticks on State Highway 16 near County Highway KE.
