The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix will begin a three-year
series next season with the University of Virginia, which is coached by UWGB’s all-time leading scorer Tony Bennett.
According to the Green Bay Press Gazette, the series will begin with a game in Charlottesville, Virginia on Nov. 26. The two teams will play again in Virginia the following year before Bennett comes home for a game at the Resch Center in the 2013-14 season.
Tony Bennett just completed his second season at Virginia. The Cavaliers went 16-15 overall and 7-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. He had spent three seasons as the coach at Washington State, where he went 69-33 and led the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and 2008. Bennett has never coached a game previously in Green Bay.
