Convicted former teacher dies from injuries

September 20, 2011 By WRN Contributor

A former Fond du Lac teacher – sentenced in a sex case – died Monday afternoon from injuries suffered when he was hit by a car while bicycling the night before. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say they were notified by the County Medical Examiner’s Office that Dennis had been pronounced dead by medical staff at Milwaukee’s Froedtert Hospital just before 3 p.m.

A drunken driving homicide charge could be referred against the driver who hit Dennis while he was bicycling along County Highway WH and Tower Road Sunday night just before 7:30 p.m.

Sheriff’s Lieutenant Rick Olig says they are waiting for test results of the blood alcohol content of the driver that struck Henry. Olig says one witness told them Dennis was wearing a helmet and the driver that struck him said Dennis had a light on the back of his bike.

Last Friday, Dennis was sentenced on charges stemming from a sexual relationship with a female student. He was given three years of probation, six months of conditional jail time and community service.
