Packers’ Collins to be held in hospital overnight

September 18, 2011 By Bill Scott

The Green Bay Packers issued a statement this evening stating:  “Nick Collins has normal feeling and complete movement in his

extremities.  As a standard protocol, he will be kept in the hospital overnight for observation.  When he returns to Green Bay, he will undergo further testing and evaluation.”

Collins was injured when his head collided with RB Jonathan Stewart’s upper leg.  Collins landed face down and stayed that way until he was put on a backboard and taken off on a stretcher.

Collins was moving fine according to a number of his teammates as he gave them the thumbs-up sign.

The Packers fell behind 13-0 in the game and rebounded for a 30-23 victory.  After passing for 422 yards in his rookie debut last week, Carolina quarterback Cam Newton responded with a 432 yard passing effort in his first home game.  But Newton also threw three interceptions, which turned out to be the difference in the game.
