When all was said and done, “size mattered” in getting two cell phone tower workers down from a stuck lift platform more than 100 feet in the air in the Kenosha County Town of Bristol. The two had worked on the tower, above a farm, all Monday, but the soft ground shifted their vehicle, which moved their safety bucket away from the tower, and then the controls didn’t work. Bristol Fire Command requested mutual aid from as far away as northern Illinois, but no one had a ladder unit tall enough to reach the men. A phone call to Klaus Cranes in Caledonia resulted in a 135 footer making the scene and getting those workers down to safety. Neither appeared the worse for wear, according to officials.
