UPDATE: Vans kills family standing on lawn

October 13, 2011 By WRN Contributor

An elderly couple and their daughter were killed when they were hit by a van while standing on a lawn. Manitowoc County Sheriff Robert Hermann says the “terrible accident” occurred Wednesday afternoon as the family stood outside watching a roofing project.

The crash occurred on Shoto road near County Trunk Highway B, west of Two Rivers. Names of the victims have not been released yet but Hermann said they were a 79-year-old man, his 75-year-old wife and their 48-year-old daughter.

Hermann stated the 43-year-old driver of the van and her six-year-old son were transported to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers before being airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay. Their injuries were classified as “serious.”

It’s not yet known what caused the van to veer out of control and go down an embankment into the yard. The State Patrol will re-construct the accident scene to look for clues as to what happened and why.

UPDATE: Manitowoc County Sheriff Rob Hermann says alcohol may have been a factor in an accident which killed three people Wednesday. The victims – 79 year-old Lawrence Geroll, his wife 75 year-old Lou Gerroll and their 48 year-old daughter Joan Geroll – died when a van driven by a 43 year old woman struck them as they were standing in their front yard in the Town of Kossuth west of Two Rivers.

The driver of the van, Becky Holly of Manitowoc and her 6 year-old son Jacob, were transported to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, before being

airlifted to a Green Bay hospital. The conditions of Holly and her son aren’t known. Hermann says the investigation into what happened is continuing.
