Pro-choice group declares victory after Mississippi

November 10, 2011 By Brian Moon

Pro-choice advocates say the rejection of a personhood proposal in Mississippi is sure sign Wisconsinites would do the same. Voters in the conservative southern state Tuesday struck down a referendum that would’ve given full legal rights to undeveloped zygotes.

Nicole Safar of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin says Badger State residents also would not support such an “overreach” as evident by their polling over the years.

“Wisconsin voters do not support when politicians get involved in these personal, private medical decisions that should be made by women and their families and their doctors.”

Fox Valley Assembly Republican Andre Jacque is circulating a similar personhood proposal. In a Youtube video, he says the Wisconsin constitution is flawed because in order to have access to the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Wisconsinites must first be born.
