Crist reportedly considering UW

December 7, 2011 By Bill Scott

Talented, but injury-plagued quarterback Dayne Crist is considering a transfer to Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel first reported the story of the Notre Dame quarterback today.

Crist has one season of eligibility remaining and is set to graduate this month, which means he would be eligible to play in 2012.

Crist suffered a torn ACL in 2009 and a torn patella tendon in 2010.  He opened the 2011 season as the Irish starter, but was benched in the season opener.

Wisconsin’s quarterback situation for 2012 is up in the air.  Jon Budmayr has been sidelined since preseason camp with nerve problems in his right elbow and Curt Phillips is trying to come back from a serious knee injury.

Redshirt freshman Joe Brennan and freshman Joel Stave are set to return next season.  Wisconsin also has an oral commitment from one quarterback in its 2012 freshman class, Bart Houston out of California.
