Racine touts accomplishments at water event

December 1, 2011 By WRN Contributor

Dozens of officials from across the country have gathered in Racine for a two-day conference on water quality issues, including storm water management, green infrastructure, and the re-use of water. Mayor John Dickert says the get-together is called “Municipal Challenges in Achieving Clean Water Goals.”

The mayor had been working to get this conference in Racine for the last year-and-a-half and he hopes to make it an annual event. Dickert is touting the city’s policies which have led to numerous honors for water quality, including North Beach and from-the-tap.

One of the ultimate goals the conference, he says, is job creation centered around some of the cheapest and best tasting water around.

Officials from California, Baltimore, Washington & Indianapolis are among the attendees for the conference that runs thru Friday.
