Obey calls for recall unity (AUDIO)

April 25, 2012 By Bob Hague

Dave Obey is calling for Democrats to unify in attempts to recall the governor. The former congressman, who’s publicly endorsed Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett in his bid to defeat Governor Scott Walker in the recall election, says Democrats need to keep the focus on Walker. “I was disappointed to see press reports indicating that one candidate intends to spend the next two weeks attacking Tom Barrett, because that candidate is behind in the polls,” said Obey, referring to former Dane County executive Kathleen Falk.

Obey said Democrats can’t afford to spend the next two weeks in what he refered to as petty sniping. “I don’t think that recall elections are the proper time for a suicide pact. I think everybody understands what’s at stake.” Falk trails Barrett in polling on the four Democratic contenders seeking to oppose Walker. The Democratic primary is May 8th.
