St. Norbert drops NCAA Regional opener

The St. Norbert College Green Knights fell to top seeded St. Thomas 5-1 in Wednesday’s NCAA Division III Midwest baseball regional.

Chad Ljunggren and Troy Rottier each tallied a pair of hits in the loss for the Green Knights (26-12) who are now 0-5 in NCAA Tournament games.  Kevin Nutley took the loss on the mound, falling to 4-4.  Nutley allowed 5 runs but only 2 were earned in 8-innings of work.

The Green Knights will face Concordia in a losers bracket game on Thursday.  St. Thomas (35-8) will face Whitewater in a winners bracket game on Thursday afternoon.
