Shots fired in pursuit of teen

June 12, 2012 By Bob Hague

A police chase in Manitowoc involving a stolen pickup truck and runaway teen ends with a crash and shots fired. Deputy Police Chief Bridget Brennan says police were called shortly after 7:00 Tuesday morning, regarding a reckless driver on the city’s southwest side. The driver was speeding and disregarding stop signs, according to Brennan.

The pursuit, at speeds of up to sixty miles an hour, went through downtown and residential streets. Brennan says several shots were fired after the truck struck a utility pole. The driver, a fourteen year-old from Piatt County in central Illinois, is in custody. The incident remains under investigation.
