Senate nominees jump on campaign trail

August 16, 2012 By Brian Moon

The U.S. Senate nominees in Wisconsin wasted no time in kicking off their campaigns.  Republican Tommy Thompson, fresh off his primary win on Tuesday, toured Husco International of Waukesha which makes hydraulic control valves. Democrat Tammy Baldwin visited Helios Solar Works, which makes solar modules in Milwaukee.

In a phone interview with Wisconsin Radio Network, she touted the need to do away with unfair trade practices that harm Wisconsin manufacturers.

Baldwin also said her opponent is fighting for big-moneyed special interests. Thompson said that if people want more government rules and federal control over their health care, then Baldwin is their candidate.

Voters will make their choice in the November 6 general election.
