Pilot dies in fiery plane crash

September 10, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The pilot of a single-engine plane died in a fiery crash next to a lake in central Racine County. Authorities say the Beechcraft Bonanza nose-dived into a backyard garage off a residential street in Kansasville at Eagle Lake. The impact led to a large explosion and fire that consumed both the building and aircraft, along with several properties.

Witnesses said there was no chance to try and help the pilot who was the sole occupant of the plane. No one on the ground was injured in the Sunday afternoon incident.

The plane was registered to an address in Chicago; the person’s name was not immediately released.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
