Berggren scores 27 in Badger loss to Creighton

November 24, 2012 By admin

Jared Berggren scored 27 points for the Wisconsin Badgers (3-2) in their 84-74 loss to 14th ranked Creighton Bluejays in the Las Vegas Invitational Friday night.

Berggren, who averages 13.5 points per game, was one of three Badgers who hit the double digits in scoring.  Ryan Evans, who scored 15 points, and George Marshall, who scored 13 points, joined Berrgren.

Creighton’s Doug McDermott scored 30 points in the victory and was helped by two other Bluejays who hit the double-digit mark in scoring.  Austin Chatman scored 14 points and Ethan Wragge scored 17 for the Bluejays.

The Badgers’ Ryan Evans led the team in rebounds with eight while Doug McDermott and Gregory Echenique both had eight rebounds for the Bluejays.

The first half went back and forth between the two teams and halftime saw the Badgers in the lead by a score of 39-38.  With about six minutes to go in the game, Creighton went on a 11-2 run to put them in the driver’s seat.

With the win, Creighton moves into the finals of the Las Vegas Invitational, while the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday night.
