Jennings inching closer to a return

November 22, 2012 By Bill Scott

Green Bay Packers WR Greg Jennings has not seen the field since week 4 against New Orleans.  Wednesday, he took a step in the right direction towards his return.

Jennings has been battling an ab/groin injury for most of the season.  He elected to have surgery a few weeks back as rest was not helping the healing process.  Head Coach Mike McCarthy gave this update after Wednesday’s practice:

Jennings has just 12-catches this season for 78-yards and a touchdown.  The 2-time Pro Bowler was all smiles after his work on Wednesday.

Getting back on the field may go beyond helping the Green Bay Packers in 2012.  Jennings is in the final year of his contract and his future with the Packers unclear.  Playing well the final few weeks and/or the post season could put a few extra millions in his bank account come March when free agency begins.
