UW-Oshkosh beats Bethel in NCAA playoffs

The UW-Oshkosh Titans (12-0) took down the Bethel University Royals (9-3) by a score of 37-14 in the quarterfinal game of the NCAA Division III football tournament.

The Titans went down 14-0 to Bethel mid-way through the second quarter, only to rally and score 30 points in the second half, while holding the Royals to no points in the second half.

Titan running back Cole Myhra had 177 rushing yards with two touchdowns and averaged almost seven yards per carry.  Quarterback Nate Wara went 18 for 27 and threw for 232 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.

Bethel University running back had 133 yards with two touchdowns and averaged almost 15 yards per carry.  Bethel quarterback Erik Peterson went 21 for 32 and threw for three interceptions, two touchdowns, and 272 yards.

Of the nine Bethel possessions in the second half, the Titans forced five punts and had one interception.  The Titans also won the battle of yardage in the second half with 344 yards compared to Bethel’s 74 yards.

With this win, UW-Oshkosh advances to the semifinals of the NCAA Division III tournament and will face the Linfield College Wildcats next weekend.
