Liars Club contest gets out-of-state winner

December 31, 2012 By WRN Contributor

The annual Burlington Liar’s Club contest has a winner from North Dakota, the first time in ten years someone from outside the Badger State has told the tallest tale. Rick Schaff of Devils Lake, ND, submitted the story of a boss telling his secretary about the fax machine in one of their branch offices being out of copy paper, so she faxed some over. Schaaf gets a certificate and 15-minutes of fame.

Second place went to Shawano’s Gene Lasch, who said it was so dry this past summer that a piss elm tree was following a dog around, and third place was Ed Zilmore of Phoenix, who’s been out of work so long, he thinks his cat is jealous of his life.

Over 500 entries were submitted. Last year’s winner was 4th.
