Officials investigate suicide of 17-year-old inmate

December 28, 2012 By WRN Contributor

Officials looking into the death of a 17-year-old Forest County Jail inmate. The Sheriff’s office says a female inmate hung herself inside the jail early on Sunday the 23rd. She was transported to the hospital but pronounced dead. The woman’s name has not been released.

She had been in jail awaiting court dates in a Forest County case. Investigators haven’t released any possible reasons why the inmate would kill herself, or how she was able to hang herself with limited materials in a supervised cell.

The case is still under investigation along with help from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.
