Wauwatosa officer killed

December 24, 2012 By WRN Contributor

A 30 year-old police officer was shot to death on Christmas Eve in the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa. At a mid-day news conference, she was identified as Jennifer Sebena – who joined the police force almost two years ago, after graduating from the police academy at Milwaukee Area Technical College. Police Lieutenant Jerry Witkowski confirmed that a homicide investigation is underway – there are no suspects – and the state Justice Department is heading up the probe.

Police knew something was wrong about 3:00 a.m. Monday – when a dispatcher tried to reach Sebena on her police radio for a call, and she didn’t answer. Officers went searching for her – and they found her body around 5:00 a.m. near the downtown Wauwatosa fire station. Witkowski said Sebena appeared to be wearing a safety vest – but she was shot multiple times. He said Sebena was married, but he did not know if she had any children.
