Coach accused of sex assault on trial

January 9, 2013 By WRN Contributor

The sexual assault trial of a Weston gym coach resumes today. Taj Jefferson is accused of having sex several time with a 16-year-old that he coached, both at his Ringle residence and at his business, GymSport Gymnastics in Weston.

During Tuesday’s opening day, jury selection took all morning. Opening statements began after lunch along with the first three witnesses. One witness is a mother of a former gymnastics student that allegedly called authorities after the victim told her daughter Jefferson had sex with her.

Defense Attorney James Connell plans to show the jury the victim’s stories are inconsistent and untrue.
