Three dead in Wood County house fire

January 30, 2013 By WRN Contributor

The death toll from an overnight house fire near Wisconsin Rapids has risen to three. Wood County authorities initially said that two people were confirmed dead, and the house was being searched for more victims. County Coroner Garry Kronstedt now says three bodies were taken to a funeral home in Wisconsin Rapids.

Officials have indicated they are not certain about the ages or genders of the victims.

Firefighters were called to a burning home around 2:30 this morning in the town of Sigel. Units from seven area fire departments helped put the blaze out. Wood County’s Fire Investigation Task Force is trying to determine what caused the fire.
