Child killed by car in Madison

February 14, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A one-year-old Madison girl is dead, after she was hit by a car early this morning on a city street.

Madison police say the girl was being pushed in a wheelchair by her mother, when it rolled into the street and was hit by a passing car. Police say the wheelchair was apparently being used by a stroller.

This incident occurred at about 3:30 this morning on Madison’s east side. Police say it remains unknown what the mother and child were doing out that early.

The driver of the vehicle did stop and MPD Lt. Sherry Strand says they have been cooperating with police.
