Field set in Supreme Court race

February 19, 2013 By Andrew Beckett

This April’s state Supreme Court race will be between an incumbent justice and a law professor.

Justice Patience Roggensack easily cleared a three-way primary Tuesday, with Marquette University law professor Ed Fallone finishing second. Lemon law attorney Vince Megna was eliminated from the race.

Roggensack earned a vast majority of the votes cast in the primary, clearing the race with more than 60 percent. Fallone managed about 30 percent of the vote, while Megna’s share was in the single digits.

Tuesday’s primary was expected to see voter turn-out at below 10 percent, with the Supreme Court race the only statewide contest on the ballot. A fresh blast of winter weather and treacherous road conditions in many parts of the state were also expected to keep voters from getting out.

The justice and Fallone will now face each other in an April 2nd general election for a ten year term on the state’s highest court.
