Man charged in toddler death

May 14, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A Racine County man has been charged for the death of a child last week in Mount Pleasant. The boyfriend of 3-year-old Hunter Wise’s mother, Marcus Johnson, is accused of First Degree Intentional Homicide. The criminal complaint says the child was found unresponsive at his mother’s house after having been left in a bathtub of scalding hot water for about 90 seconds. He died later at a hospital.

The 26-year-old Johnson was caring for the boy, but allegedly failed to call 911 for almost 40 minutes after claiming to have found him nearly submerged. Aside from the hot water, Hunter Wise had a number of other injuries, according to the charging document.

Johnson is jailed on $500,000 bond, and goes back to court next week.
