A little girl from the Wausau area, who was battling an incurable heart condition, has died. Kayleigh Gurzynski of Rib Mountain died early Tuesday morning in Milwaukee.

Kayleigh had a rare heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and also Turner’s Syndrome. Much of her life was spent in and out of hospitals. Milwaukee Children’s Hospital says Kayleigh had lived longer with these conditions than any of their other patients with the same diagnosis.

Gurzynski drew headlines earlier this year, after the girl was able to meet singing star Lady Gaga this past February in Chicago. The meeting came even as Gaga had to cancel a show due to her own medical issues.

Gurzynski turned 6-years-old on Memorial Day.
