Packers looking at a Burnett extension

July 12, 2013 By Bill Scott

With a long list of key players heading into the final year of their contracts in 2013, the Green Bay Packers will have a few decisions to make over the next few months.  It appears a future with Safety Morgan Burnett is the next decision the team is looking at making.

Jason La Confora of CBS Sports tweeted Thursday that the Packers and Burnett were working on an extension.  Burnett is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie deal.  In 3-seasons, Burnett has played in (and started) 36-games recording 6-interceptions and 4-forced fumbles.

Other Packers who will be free agents after this season:

  • WR James Jones
  • DT B.J Raji
  • TE JerMichael Finley
  • OT Marshall Newhouse
  • DT Ryan Pickett
  • CB Sam Shields
  • C Evan Dietrich-Smith
