Driver held in fatal head-on crash

August 14, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A 51-year-old Plymouth woman is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle after causing a fatal accident on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac Wednesday morning.

Sheriff’s Captain Rick Olig said the woman was heading west and pulled out and passed a number of cars. A 53-year-old Fond du Lac woman who was heading east had to swerve onto the shoulder of the road to avoid her and lost control. She was killed when her vehicle collided head-on with one driven by a a 41 year-old man from St. Cloud. The woman was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected. The man was not injured.

The woman whose erratic driving caused the accident kept going, and was pulled over near Waupun. Olig said witnesses report she was passing vehicles both before and after the fatal accident, which was reported at 5:31 a.m. The woman had just moved to Plymouth from Texas and was on her way to work in Beaver Dam.
