Apparent murder-suicide in Dane County

September 19, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A grim discovery in Dane County this week was an apparent murder-suicide.

Dane County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a farmhouse on Highway N in the Town of Bristol, which is just north of Sun Prairie, on Tuesday. They found the bodies of 53-year-old Kevin Herskind, and his 52-year-old wife Julie. Police believe Kevin shot his wife and the family dog, before turning the gun on himself.

Police were prompted to do a welfare check after the couple’s employer called authorities when neither had shown up for work.
