Infant homicide in Eau Claire

September 6, 2013 By WRN Contributor

A newborn baby’s death has been ruled a homicide. The man believed to be the father is being held on sexual assault charges, and police are looking into the teen mom’s possible involvement in the baby’s death.

Eau Claire Police say a 15-year-old girl was brought to a hospital August 28th with complications from childbirth. Officers learned the girl gave birth at a residence, where the baby girl was then found dead. A forensic examination found the baby was near full-term, was born alive, and died as the result of “homicidal actions.”

Detectives learned that the mother had been repeatedly sexually assaulted for several years. 48-year-old Larry Johnson was arrested on charges of sexual assault of a child. Investigators say he admitted to the assaults and believes he is the father of the baby. A petition has also been filed in juvenile court regarding the mother’s involvement in the homicide of the child. The mother is not being identified and the investigation continues.
