Ozanne enters AG’s race

November 7, 2013 By Bob Hague

There’s another candidate for attorney general in Wisconsin. Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne has entered the race for attorney general. He joins fellow Democrat, Milwaukee state Representative Jon Richards, and Republican Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel, as the only declared candidates to succeed two-term incumbent J.B. Van Hollen, a Republican who is not seeking reelection.

Ozanne, a Madison native who graduated from West High School and UW Law School, was appointed by Democratic Governor Jim Doyle as Dane County district attorney in August 2010. He served in political appointments within state Department of Corrections between 2008 and 2010, and prior to that was assistant district attorney in Dane County, beginning in 1998. He ran unopposed for DA last year.
